I don’t think I am alone in my love of the shirt dress. They are such a versatile item, aren’t they? They can pretty much be worn for any occasion. I like the classic style of the Vintage Shirt Dress. The flared skirt and fitted waist are what give it that 50s silhouette I love.
The Alex Shirt Dress is more every day, a little more understated. I wear mine to work or to a nice dinner. I also love how you can just wear it loose without a belt and it looks completely different.
Penny is somewhere in between Alex and the Vintage Shirt Dress – she is both vintage and modern and a firm favourite of mine. I want to make more Penny’s in rayon as love how this changes the skirt shape
Most recently, I designed the Florence Dress – to satisfy my love for boho chic. I haven’t made any since the launch but planning one for autumn. Want to make a low key version – so smaller print – something more every day.
Then there was Kitty – we made this look super vintage with the buttons. I have not had time to make another version but would love one in navy linen – watch this space.
And my love for shirt dresses does not stop here. I have designed one for the next ebook which is different from all of the above. And my search for the ultimate shirt dress continues! I made a Pinterest board of ones I love here – check it out as it has some great ideas for how you could hack patterns and inspiration for fabric.
