Ah kitchens! This has been the main thing I have been looking forward to pulling together. I have never had a decent size kitchen and with an extension out the back and side return, we will! Very excited. But also a bit anxious about the pressure. I have got to get this right. There are so many decisions!
The first thing I did was decided on overall look and feel I wanted. I knew I wanted a dark kitchen and a light worktop, I knew I wanted some exposed brick and then lots of light. So we are going big with skylights and a big back crittal window and door at the back. Sadly we can’t afford a kitchen by the big boys like deVOL so we are going to go for an Ikea kitchen and then get some bespoke doors made to make it a bit more special and unique.
And a butler sink. I had a butler sink in our last flat and they are as lovely to use and they look stylish. Plus they are easy to clean!
Taps! It’s all about the tap right now, isn’t it? The brass trend has got me good. So I am in the market for one but I can’t believe how different the price range is. Some are £100 (Ikea) and others over £1000!)
So if I go with a brass tap then I need to go with brass handles. I don’t want anything too modern as it is a Victorian house. I think the combination of the drawer pull and a gold knob for cupboards.
I found these pictures via Pinterest from a company that specialise in side extensions. It is great to get an idea of what a side extension will look like. It is hard to imagine as our kitchen is like this – down a level. I love how they have done this. Exposed brick on one wall looks great.
Oooh I am more excited now!
