Mare Street Market is fairly new, having opened up in London Fields last year. I hadn’t been down there yet but had heard good things, so decided to pop down for lunch last week. It’s a real eclectic mix of places to eat and shop.
They have a few different eating options, and at first, all the variety is a little confusing. There is an Open Kitchen, Dining Room and Deli all offering different menus. As I was there for a light lunch, I opted for the deli. They had a yummy selection of cakes, sandwiches and gorgeous bright bowls of salads.
They also have some made to order bits on the menu like toasted sandwiches and soups, and in the evening it turns in to a wine bar where you can order small plates too.
I was tempted by the fish finger sandwich, the special of the day, but went for a cheese and onion toastie and kept it healthy with a side salad. They do great coffee by Flying Horse Coffee too but of course, I opted for a tea!
This is the Dining Room I mentioned earlier. It’s full of these gorgeous lights that are all for sale – very tempting! I have a thing for chandeliers, I just have no idea where I’d put one!
There’s loads more vintage treats tucked away here too.
It was definitely too cold to sit outside when I visited, but I could imagine it on a warm summer evening being such a great place to come for food and drinks with friends.
